Hobgoblins

Hobgoblins are simultaneously one of the greatest warrior cultures in the world, and one of the greatest nuisances. Hobgoblin life is brutal, militant, and hard. If you don't pull your weight, you don't eat. Squabbles are frequently settled by duels and trials by combat. Their culture has little appreciation for arts, save for carrying on tales of their warriors. They were nearly driven to extinction during the demon wars, with their entire population falling into the double digits by its end. However, with twins and triplets being more common than single births, a gestation period of only 6 months, and the mothers being active until the final months, they have quickly come back from the edge of extinction to be an active thorn in the side of everyone else with their raids for resources and slaves.

Hobgoblins greatly despise elves as being untrustworthy, blaming the high elves for the demon wars and the drow for their betrayal at Hell's Breach. As a result, even when in civilized company, few can resist mocking and making crude jabs at them, and that's if the hobgoblin is friendly enough to not punch them in the face at the first opportunity. Further, because hobgoblins associate arcane magic with elven culture, they have a particular distaste for such arts as well, which leads them to treat those among their own with such talents with disapproval and scorn.

Hobgoblin Racial Traits

  • Size and Type: Hobgoblins are medium humanoids with the [Goblinoid] subtype.
  • Ability Scores: +2 Dexterity, +2 Constitution
  • Speed: Hobgoblins have a base speed of 30 ft.
  • Darkvision: Hobgoblins have darkvision 60 ft.
  • Tolerance: Hobgoblins have a +6 racial bonus against poison, a +4 racial bonus on saves versus disease.
  • Iron Heart: Hobgoblin have a +2 racial bonus against fear effects, spells, and spell-like abilities (granting a total of +4 against magic fear effects).
  • Nomad Hunter: Hobgoblins have a +1 racial bonus to Perception and Survival, both of which are always class skills for them.
  • Ambush Tactics: Hobgoblins have a +4 racial bonus to Stealth, and Stealth is always a class skill for them.
  • Languages: Hobgoblins begin play speaking Common and Goblin. Hobgoblins with high Intelligence scores can choose from the following: Draconic, Dwarven, Infernal, Giant, and Orc. See the Linguistics skill page for more information about these languages.

Rekkid Lofa

The term rekkid lofa translates literally from the goblin language as "tainted witch". These hobgoblins are gifted with magic, and driven to the fringes of their culture's societies. They often are overlooked as potential mates by their peers, and their predisposition towards the mysterious and magical, combined with being rejected by the warrior culture of their peers makes means they frequently engage in taking slaves of other races as their concubines - especially elves for which they have a strange fascination with. This only further increases distrust of them within their tribes. Despite this, many hobgoblin warlords recognize their power and see them as a tactical advantage, and thus disallow actually purging them from their clans, settling instead to forcing them to live on the fringes of their war camps.

Rekkid Lofa Traits

  • Size and Type: Lofa are medium humanoids with the [Elf] and [Goblinoid] subtype.

  • Ability Scores: +2 Dexterity, +2 Intelligence
  • Darkvision: Lofa have darkvision 60 ft.
  • Low-light Vision: Lofa have low-light vision.
  • Elven Immunities: Lofa are immune to magic sleep effects and get a +2 racial saving throw bonus against enchantment spells and effects.
  • Tainted Heart: Lofa gain a +2 racial bonus against poison effects, fear effects, spells, and spell-like abilities (granting a total of +4 against magic enchantment, fear, and poison effects).
  • Elven Magic: Lofa gain a +2 bonus on caster level checks made to overcome spell resistance. In addition, they also receive a +2 racial bonus on Spellcraft checks made to identify the properties of magic items.
  • Witch's Cunning: Lofa gain a +2 racial bonus to Perception and Stealth, and both skills are class skills for them.
  • Languages: Lofa begin play speaking Common, Goblin, and Elven. Lofa with high Intelligence scores can choose from the following: Draconic, Dwarven, Infernal, Giant, and Orc. See the Linguistics skill page for more information about these languages.
